Vel’Zan’Kal’Sur Tzarn is a calculating and ruthless figure within the Zet corporate hierarchy. As CEO of Tzarn Interstellar Holdings, he has built a reputation as an opportunist, leveraging corporate takeovers, economic sabotage, and military force to expand his influence. Unlike some of his more reckless counterparts, Tzarn is not driven by ego but by the pursuit of long-term profitability. He values efficiency, control, and the ability to manipulate systems—whether legal, economic, or military—to achieve his objectives.
Tzarn sees morality as a weakness, preferring to operate in the realm of contracts, power, and leverage. He does not seek unnecessary destruction, but if a conflict is profitable or strategically advantageous, he will escalate without hesitation. His mastery of Zet corporate law allows him to justify his actions under the guise of legality, making him a dangerous adversary in both boardrooms and battlefields.
- Master Strategist: Tzarn is a highly skilled tactician, capable of analyzing multiple outcomes and adjusting his plans accordingly. He excels at long-term strategic positioning.
- Corporate Manipulator: As a seasoned CEO, he is adept at navigating Zet corporate law, turning bureaucratic loopholes into weapons.
- Cybernetic Enhancements: His neural implants grant him advanced processing capabilities, allowing him to command fleets, analyze data, and react with near-instantaneous precision.
- Hybrid Technology Expertise: His fleet specializes in integrating alien technologies into Zet ships, making them unpredictable in combat but difficult to maintain.
- Unrelenting Patience: Tzarn does not act out of anger; he acts out of calculation. He is willing to withdraw if it means securing victory at a later time.
Early Life & Corporate Rise
Born into a powerful corporate lineage on Zet, Tzarn quickly distinguished himself through aggressive business tactics and strategic acquisitions. Over his four Rehusks, he transformed Tzarn Interstellar Holdings from a mid-tier technology firm into a formidable force specializing in hybrid starship technology, trade manipulation, and military-backed economic expansion. His ability to outmaneuver larger corporations through calculated ruthlessness made him a rising power in Zet society.
First Contact with Starfleet
Tzarn, like many of the Deathless, viewed Starfleet as a potential market opportunity but also as an ideological threat to Zet corporate dominance. While official Zet policy maintained diplomatic openness, figures like Tzarn saw the Federation’s values as antithetical to profitable governance and began strategizing ways to either exploit or neutralize Starfleet influence in the Gamma Quadrant.
The Koreli IV Conflict
Tzarn’s fleet was deployed to Koreli IV under the pretense of corporate restructuring, but in reality, his mission was twofold:
- Eliminate the Grend Dynasty – The ruling Zet family had mismanaged Koreli IV’s resources, weakening Zet corporate influence. By ensuring their deaths, Tzarn created a power vacuum that he could later exploit.
- Absorb Koreli IV’s Corporate Holdings – With the Grend family gone, all Zet-controlled assets and contracts on Koreli IV became subject to reallocation. Tzarn intended to claim them for his company.
However, Starfleet’s unexpected presence complicated his plans. A tense standoff ensued, during which Tzarn employed military pressure, legal maneuvering, and intimidation tactics, including the threat of warp ramming attacks, a strategy inspired by Starfleet’s own suicide strike against his fleet. Ultimately, after determining that a long-term military conflict would be unprofitable, he withdrew—but not before ensuring that Koreli IV’s economic dependencies remained in Zet hands.
While Tzarn retreated from Koreli IV, he does not consider the conflict over. He views Starfleet’s intervention as an inconvenience, not a defeat. His patience is long, and he has already begun recalibrating his plans. His next moves will likely involve economic subversion, diplomatic manipulation, and, if necessary, escalated warfare using refined warp ramming tactics.
Tzarn remains one of the most dangerous Zet executives operating in the Gamma Quadrant, a man who never forgets an obstacle—only how to circumvent or crush it later.
