Medical Assessment: Cadet Darkkdust came into sickbay today with an unusual case wherein her hands would not stop shaking. This could be due to nervousness, and have prescribed a series of beta blockers to see if that helps.
SD 239205.22 - Medical Officer: Lulem Odrin , MD, Starfleet Academy
Addendum: Cadet Darkkdust returned to sickbay today, stating that the shaking has gotten worse since beginning the prescribed treatment. After a deeper level scan, it had been discovered that she is suffering from Spinal Muscular Atrophy, which is causing the shaking. I have recommended a brief course of steroids to help re-build the muscle tissue and an addition of HMB to her diet. Have referred the case to a physiotherapist with a recommendation to begin sessions to combat any long-term negative effects.
Medical Assessment: Ensign Darkkdust visited sickbay today for a routine pre-assignmnet check-up regarding her SMA. There seems to be no cause for concern, so long as she continues adding β-Hydroxy β-methylbutyric acid to her replicated dietary intake and undertaking twice-yearly physiotherapy sessions.
Medical Assessment: Ensign Darkkdust checked in with me this evening to let me know of her condition. I've put a flag on her personnel record for my convenience and will continue to monitor her condition throughout her assignment here.
SD 239609.09 - Medical Officer: Ishkabela Journs , MD, USS Atlantis
Medical Assessment: Lieutenant Kiax (formerly Darkdust) came to Sickbay complaining of difficulties sleeping and relaxing. Scans showed unusually high cortisol levels, indicating that stress might be a factor in her insomnia. Further discussion with the patient revealed that she was recently joined with the Kiax symbiont (a little over a month, per the patient) and that there was strain in the patient's home life. Though the patient didn't share extensive details regarding the cause of her home life stress, there was sufficient evidence for the attending physician (myself) to prescribe an anxiety hypo during the day and a light sedative at night to aid with sleep. Further recommendations included seeking out the services of a counselor with expertise in Trill psychology and a more consistent shift schedule until the patient is able to either reduce the number of stressors in her life or is better able to cope with the necessary stressors she faces each day. Physician will follow up with the patient in four weeks as the patient's schedule allows.

Counseling Assessment: Cadet Darkkdust came to my office today with serious concerns regarding her condition. Having sudden news of this nature can cause a person's resolve to take a hit, but I have reassured her that the medical facilities here on Earth will keep her in good health. I have advised her to continue weekly therapy sessions with me until further notice to ensure that her mental outlook does not deteriorate further.
