While escorting a medical convoy in October 2373, the ship was ambushed by [[Jem'Hadar]] forces.<ref>[[SIM:Cmdr Joseph Washington: No Mercy|''No Mercy'']], Cmdr. J. Washington, {{USS|Invicta}} </ref> The bridge, the ready room, deck 1 and nearly half of deck 2 were obliterated in the initial attack, killing 22, including most of the command crew. Then-lieutenant [[Joseph Washington]], the ship's operations officer, assumed command from Main Engineering, and was able to get the ship to safety, saving the rest of his crew.
