Relationships
Her Academy colleague and friend, for whom she has tremendous admiration and respect and whom she sees as the ideal of what a Starfleet officer should be. She tends to trust his opinions and views and, perhaps, has a crush on him.
Together they survived the experiences in the lost city in the caverns of Darime IV, and it brought them closer together than ever before.
Her best friend. The two met at the academy after getting mixed up in class. They have a lot in common and are very close.

Background
Ena was born in the last throes of the Dominion War in rural Bajor, in the small village of Soilarish ("Ancient Forest" in Bajoran), daughter of farmers. Curious and quick-witted by nature, she excelled in her studies from an early age, showing a passion for astronomy and physics, surpassing the average of what could be taught in the small school in her village. From an early age she dreamed of exploring the stars and unravelling the mysteries of the universe so, some years after Bajor joined the Federation, her parents sent her to a school in the capital, to prepare her to join Starfleet where she would have the opportunity to explore her dream. However, Ena's quiet rural life showed that her quiet upbringing had had consequences: accustomed to small groups and people she had known her whole life, she became shy and self-conscious around her more vocal peers.
In 2398, she was chosen along with her friends Ryan Isaacs, Solomon Gilbert and J'ryn (Jack) Ressan to do an after-school project on Darime IV. However, at some point the small group lost consciousness and awoke in a cave in the interior of the planet, where they encountered a lost civilisation that tested their abilities. To complicate matters further, when they awoke, they discovered that something or someone had inserted an unknown device into the base of their skull. This initially only altered their biochemical parameters, but eventually granted Ryan and Ena knowledge of the lost civilisation. Sol and Jack were never able to check if they had received it as well, as the city's defending drones killed them first.
Ena believed she had a vision from the Prophets shortly after she was rescued, and to this day she still doubts whether what she saw was true or a product of the device. It is unclear whether she still retains the knowledge it brought her, or whether it was erased by the surgery to remove it.
In the early months of 2399, following these events, she was selected to serve on her cadet cruise on the USS Gorkon.
