Badges are similar to our Community Awards in that they are awarded for out-of-character (OOC) participation and achievement. However, while Community Awards are bestowed on a yearly basis in June to recognize long-term achievement and outstanding performance among a peer-group, badges are reserved for incremental achievements or singular contest wins.

IC vs. OOC

The difference between awards, badges, service ribbons, pennants, and commemorative coins:

  • awards and badges: Presented for OOC accomplishments by an individual simmer/writer. Awards and badges can be displayed on any and all characters' pages and the user page of that simmer/writer.
  • service ribbons: Presented for IC performed by a specific character. Service ribbons can only be displayed on that specific character's page.
  • pennants: Presented for OOC accomplishments by a ship/station/installation. Pennants are displayed on the page of the ship or station itself.
  • commemorative coins: Presented for OOC accomplishments as a fleet. Coins are displayed on any and all characters' pages and user pages of simmer/writers who were present for the fleetwide accomplishment or event.

Multiple Citations Policy

Badges may be awarded multiple times. A gold tip represents each repeated citation, and a silver tip represents five additional citations (and therefore five gold tips).

Displaying Badges

On the 118 Wiki

To easily display badges on a bio or service rack, use Template:Badge or Template:Badge Rack.

On the 118 Forums

To display your badges on the forums:

  1. Go to Category:Badges to find the actual image file used for the badge you want to display. For example, File:Badge-Podcast Team.png.
  2. Click on the image until you get to the image itself (not the image's wiki page) to see the raw URL of the badge image. For example: http://wiki.starbase118.net/wiki/images/6/6c/Badge-Podcast_Team.png
  3. Copy and paste the URL of the image into your forum signature or post using the "Insert other media" button and then the "Insert image from URL" button.

Note: Enhancements cannot be displayed on the forums directly.

Levels of Badges

  • Elite Badges: Special badges that recognize things above and beyond the normal. Denoted by their silver border.
  • Legendary Badges: Legendary Badges are for unique, or legendary achievements in the world of UFOP: Starbase 118 RPG. Denoted by their gold, gilded border.
