Personality and Personal History

If someone were to describe him I believe they would call him loyal. He always stay true to whatever path he takes and is willing to go through all the hardships that lay before him. He always had chosen that hard road of life because half the time it is not the choosing of the path but the acceptance of it. He wanted to make a difference, but was always left out. He tries hard and when he finally achieve one goal he has a million more to do. So he lives on from day to day, living the way he wants to be.

He comes from a long line of military men and women all the way back to ancient times of swordsman throughout the world from knights of England to the Samurai of Japan, carrying the family sword to prove his true loyalty is to his family and their code of honor.

He hides his problems under a thick coat of pride, achievement, and self righteousness. Everything he does, from the moment he wakes up he lives for the perfection. That is the discipline taught unto him as with all members of his family. Clear cut devotion and loyalty to the House, and the will and determination in any purpose.

Like all Fanels, Jacen baptized in the fires of combat. He was raised to have the ability to fight. Like his entire family, he is a Knight, servant of the people, looking out for the best interest of the House and balance of power.

Jacen is sometimes too determined. He can be ill-tempered when he hears something he doesn't like. Half the time, he tries to impose his belief on others and then rushes off to try to prove something. In this regard, he had imposed a self exile from his family. He wanted to be away from the traditions of his House. In his entire life, he has only been to his homeworld twice so far. In his noble personality, he fails to see some common sense or seeks to understand others if they do something that violates his own principles. Another one of his problems would be at times, lack of response to authority like officers that outrank him. He would repeatedly speak frankly to them as equals. As an officer, he has a natural respect that comes with the position, but most of the time, he feels the need to let others, especially those higher positions from him to earn his actual respect. Competent is one thing compared to respectability. He will obey a direct order from above, but he doesn't have to like who gives the order. Though he also has a dislike for disloyalty even if it for the "right" reasons. He can agree to some smuggling operations, but take them down if they are doing it to help criminals or transporting something deadly. There are many things, Jacen would consider a problem, though some things he would allow as a necessary evil on the universe. He like most his House believes that without evil in the universe, how can good be defined?

His immediate family comprises of his father, Zeon and his mother, Leronica. He also has a number of siblings including 3 brothers, Casval, a twin Dante, and younger brother, David. Also 2 sisters, Artesia and a younger one, Akira. He rarely sees any of them except for social events that calls him an his family back to the homeworld. It is Fanel policy to encourage the young when the time comes, for them to reach out into space, explore, enrich and bring back those enrichment to add to their collective. This also leads to many of the Fanels advances in technology.

Jacen fancies weapons and inventions of more practical devices to be used while he is in service. Though this is no surprise when one sees how his noble warrior family origin can be the cause of that. Some would say his personality is the kind that would only be described as simply a romantic.

In weapons, he's developed quite a few in his career. When he served aboard the USS Victory , he had tried to invent his own rendition of a Lightsaber with some success. The weapon he designed was based on Phaser and Force Field technology. He had intended to use it as a stunning tool. The forcefield created in a tube like shape extends into a baton length and the field it generates is powerful enough when it strikes an organic mass, it shocks it, stuns it. The setting can be fine tune to whatever you are dealing with and length can be changed. The other setting was intended to be a cutting tool. The force field keeps the charged phaser beam inside and as the charge increases, it burns hot and anything it touches will burn. Jacen had tested this and it can burn right through the standard hull type of Federation ships very well. In the end, Jacen had dubbed this invention of his, the Phase Baton, but after his transfer from the Victory, it was never seen again.

The next invention he invented is later more practically sound for him since he said it "Makes sense". He called it a Force Lance. The Force Lance generally looks like a harmless metal rod approximately 1/3 of a meter in length which fires energy shots, but can extended to almost 2 meters and be used as melee weapon. The interesting thing about this is that it isn't clear whether the technology behind this energy weapon is Phaser based or Disruptor based. When fire, it shoots out pulses of blue colored energy at its targets. Because it's a straight weapon to hold, aiming is assumed to also be automatic to where ever the user points it.

A recent feature is Jacen can designed the Lance to only work for those with a certain DNA, like his or any other officers and the computer in the Lance will key in who used it last. If someone whose DNA isn't keyed into the lance, that person will be electrically shocked when trying to use it, most likely against the original user. It can also be used as a taser. The ends of the Lance can be charged with energy and all you have to do is stab. Jacen has apparently several of these in store, reportedly gave one to Lieutenant Commander Tash Zubowskivich

New features recently installed gives the F-Lances a grappling hook function, placed in as a stationary position to be set on auto fire, & finally it can be used as an energy grenade by setting it to over-load. Also it can turn into a flashlight. Jacen's newest features recently has given it the ability to extend sharp double edge blades and use it like a knife.

House Fanel

To this date, House Fanel is known to almost every major power in the Alpha Quadrant. The fact that House Fanel is very mysterious, but every power including the Federation looks to them when they need...outside help. To this day, there is no exact numbers of how many who bear the name Fanel is out there in known space, but it is estimated to be in the hundreds of thousands who are true born Fanels and those who were granted with the name Fanel.

To begin on what is House Fanel, it is originally and still primarily a human family with many extensions, and a long solid bloodline that stretches back hundreds of years, if not thousands even, carefully chronicled. They are the last and the first of their kind. A House that had absorbed every aspect of humanity into itself, or at least the notable aspects, this include major bloodlines of human history to draw relations from the pass and to increase their importance. They have survived the many centuries on Earth and beyond as a single entity. Hidden their culture under a cloak of secrecy even to this day, no one truly knows how House Fanel operates, but it is assumed that they are bounded by no laws of any nation, human or otherwise, but their own law and enforce their own brand of justice. That being said, their laws are also supposed to be fair. It is seves them and goes beyond simple truths. Fanels might still be emotional beings that have common sense, but their laws are what keeps them in accordance with truth. They aren't ones who simply accept things at face value or let themselves be blinded by benefits, or emotions. Sometimes they can bend or ignore the law for their own self righteous gains, but because not every Fanel is the same even in believing the ideals, it's hard to know what one would do if you piss them off.

Something unique in this human based society is that they are raised to be warriors, each defenders of the House honor and to fight whenever they are called to do. The traditions of the House remains to present history. As a Fanel, one can grow up to have any occupation at all, but one always maintain the self discipline and training one was given since birth. Every Fanel is a possible combatant in any conflict involved in, except for those married into Fanel. People who are wives or husbands to Fanels most likely haven't had the training a true born Fanel is given from birth, but in these causes, most of the Fanel spouses can be found in the homeworld of Fanel. Since the population of the Gaian system is numbered many, mostly from non-relation to the Fanelian blood, and is more ideal, many Fanels would stay in system and eventually take a wife or a husband closer to home.

When a Fanel is born, be it male or female, it is said some slight genetic enhancements are given to them, this is rumored and not confirmed. When a young Fanel could stand up and think for him or herself, he/she is baptized in the fires of combat. Taught the knowledge of martial arts, war, battle, learning to deal with it as they grow older. Females are given some exceptions to some tests, but all are given hard tests to pit their will and knowledge to make them strong against a harsh universe. They are taught to live in peaceful time, and also taught to be focused in times of war and battle. When the child is old enough, rough the age of 15, he or she will wisely pick a sword of any type. This weapon is more than just a symbol that they are ready and willing to face adulthood, it is a weapon forged in fire, like a true weapon. Once picked, they will face off in combat with a hologram with a matching weapon that they chose. Safeties off and fight until one is left standing. In the old days, it used to be a living person, and when hologram technology came along the safeties were off, but in the recent generation, it is said that those killed in this final test of adulthood would kill more ranks than bringing more, the safeties were brought back online. Though it still means one cant get hurt by a hologram. The hologram is programmed not to make a final killing blow and its attacks wont cause too much injuries, but the test must be answered if one proves to earn his or her Fanel name. It is more than what some other "Civilized" race would say barbaric to pit children in this violent act, but to the Fanels, swordsmanship, the way of the warrior is more than just knowing how to kill, it is knowing the ultimate truth. Every species is capable of killing. It is naturally required of any race to know of killing to know of hate, anger, lust, wrath, the sins of a race. Only when one is fully informed of these living trials that one faces in life, can they avoid it and defeat them when these tests surprises them.

There is a trial for every kind of sin a Fanel must pass in order to become an elite. The universe outside the safety of Gaia is unpredictable and harsh and dangers from outside and within the mind can come and pass. One has to learn how to be immune to these and strengthen their resolve and learn to adapt to the ever changing situations must be tested first.

It is also rumored that House Fanel over the pass century has been trying to expand their bloodlines into other races. It is reported that there are a number of Vulcan, Klingon, Bajoran, Andorian, Betazoid, among many other races within their collective. Many who have married into the Fanel bloodline, adding to the gene pool.

It is rumored that House Fanel might be trying to create a telepath program by combining human DNA with other species potentially creating a human with telepathic abilities like the Betazoids. This rumor is not confirmed or denied by House Fanel if ever asked, but since little political contact is made with House Fanel, this is only left to speculations, which is strongly recommended to not be followed through.

-House Fanel, the name Fanel, and the planet Gaia is loosely based on the Japanese Anime Escaflowne

Gaia - Homeworld of House Fanel

It's location is in a system outside of Federation controlled space or any other space controlled by any of the other major powers. It was discovered hundreds of years ago when first explorers of Earth, primarily of House Fanel, took upon themselves and left Earth behind for a new beginning. They used their vast amount of wealth and power to build fleets of ships in secret and took to the stars until reaching the edge of known space or at least the edge of current Federation space. The fleet of House Fanel ships discovered a nebula. It had strange properties and no ship was able to pass by it straight. One would have to make several complicated plotted warp jumps, each time always random to match the flow of the disturbance inside. Once through, the fleet discovered paradise. A planet that isn't unlike Earth. There were strange elements on this world, but all the same, even indigenous animal life was very similar to the kinds on Earth. Since this was before the founding of the Federation and the prime directive, House Fanel had reportedly disrupted the life of this planet. On this world, there were many small bands of humanoid, whose physical appearance and genetic make up is similar to humans. How this is possible, no one is able to determined. There were millions of these people already living on Gaia. When the colonists of House Fanel came to this world, they claimed the entire planet for themselves. The people living on this world, amazing at the advanced technology of the colonists, accepted them right away and blended into a more modern society. Before House Fanel came, the planet was in the middle of a Renaissance period. In less than 2 generations, the entire planet was transformed into a successful colony of humanity.

For the most part, Gaia is an M-class planet with similar vegetations to Earth, a large ocean, though half and half ratio compared to Earth that has 70% in ocean. The urban areas are the typical advanced settings you would see in any highly developed civilizations, but there are many parts that preserved the nature to emphasize that Gaia is a paradise, not just some techno planet.

House Fanel had named this planet Gaia, name of the Greek Goddess meaning "land" or in all technicality, another name for "Earth". Since no major power would dare to risk ships to lay claim to this unstable area surrounding the Gaian system, House Fanel was able to enjoy living undisturbed from outside problems until they decided to go out of their new home system and bring back technology to advanced themselves. Though in anticipation of any of the more aggressive powers in the quadrant, House Fanel had developed their own defenses, and a star force. There is no actual accounting by any of the major powers on the strength of the Fanelian Star Force and entire military, but based on the structure on how House Fanel operates, any individual man and woman of House Fanel is fully trained and capable of fighting in the name of his or her House. That being said, the total number of fighters, defenders, and serviceman in the Gaia system can literally range from thousands to millions.

Every major city on Gaia has a constant dampening field to prevent the usage of particle weapons of any kind within the cities. It is a way to enforce the law against modern weapons. Hence this also prolongs the tradition of the way of the sword.

Non-human life on Gaia

Aside from Species of lifeforms from the other worlds of the major power that decided to live on Gaia and within the little empire of Fanel, there are a number of native species on the main planet which would surprise many people. They each share characteristics of animals of Earth. Tigers, Wolves, Bulls apparently had taken a more humanoid form and are very sentient. Some have chosen to accept the wonders of modern technology and lived in the many cities and even are apart of military and all forms of civilization. Then there are some who are more to themselves. The interesting question is how these life forms came about on a planet such as Gaia, and how they are so similiar to their more feral cousins DNA wise. Besides their obvious similiarities to actual animals with no sentient, these other species on Gaia are more like other races and are respected as such. Many are even part of the Fanel blood line, not the main one, but part of it.

The Fanelian Fleet

Little is actually known about the many fleets of ships, or what sizes or designs that House Fanel has built and use under their own control. They having passes, aquired through the good graces of many of the major powers in the quadrant gives them some leeway to travel unrestricted. All under the table of course. Though technically a human settlement, the Gaia system sits outside of control of any known power. There is no claim from anyone for actual control of the system. That being said, House Fanel has had many ships built in the event a known power, say the Romulans, or Cardassians would come and try to claim the worlds within their small space. Rumors circled around that Gaia has a worldwide planetary defense network, possibly a planetary shield grid system. These rumors are hard to confirm because House Fanel refuses any ship trying to breach their space. Any trade with House Fanel is through 3rd party channels and supply runs go from the system directly to the suppliers and back. That aside, the entire system itself is very self sufficient and can last indefinitely if every an attempted blockade from outside the nebula ever occurs, but that scenario is unlikely figuring the size of the circumference of the nebula around the system is extremely wide and thick, no amount of ship by any singular power can successfully blockade it even if it was worth it.

Present 3 types of ships have already been revealed. The smallest so far is a shuttle tyle, though armed to the teeth. One named the Edison which is a Zacorus class Freighter. This one has a design slightly similar to the Delta Flyer

The second one seen is a class similar to a Klingon Bird of Prey, but radically redesigned. In simple terms, it's what would a Bird of Prey looks like if the Federation built it. Symbols inside it still holds its Klingon inspirations, it has a functional cloak and Klingon weapon systems, or so we seem. We do not know how many ships House Fanel possess, since cloaking technology is heavily watched by the other powers. A class this one would be called is a frigate. At a blurry glance and hull configuration, this type, one named the Kahless is distinctly Klingon inspired, giving the bird wings, but unlike most Klingon Bird of Preys, the wings of this ship is more bend back a bit, the nacelles are located closer to the main section of the ship. There appears to be at least 2 sets of impulse engines, two each at the ends of the wings and two sets closer in the middle of the central module. This would appear to be a well balanced ship. It size despite being similar in design to the Klingon Bird of Prey it is at least 2 times larger and has much more weapons systems. This was a warship like all the other classes of ships.

The 3rd type has yet to be seen and only mentioned in recent posts. An Atlantis class, one named the Executor. This class of ship is stated to be one of the largest and at least twince the size of a Federation Sovereign Classstarship. We can assume so far, this is the most powerful ship House Fanel can throw.

It is rumored that the Fanelian starforce also employs squadrons of fighters and its military might employ several other realms of uncommon technology that none of the other major powers use. The idea that mech technology might also be used.

Religion - Entil'Zha or The One Who Creates The Future

Unlike an actual religion of many where one would believe in one God or many gods, House Fanel believes in something they all called Entil'zha, or widely spoken as simply "The One". Not an actual person in reality like a god, but more as an ideal. They believe that there is a higher power, a higher level of understanding that every race currently has no means to attain at the moment because we have not yet ready to reach such a peak of existence. Since we do not understand The One who creates the future, we simply live in it. The One isn't one particular thing, or object or person. It is all around us, shaping us, influencing us. To compare, the closest thing would be to compare this to The Force. It binds us, it is all around us and it shaped the past, it shapes the present, and it will shape the future. They respect all other religions from other races, but this is the ideal religion they believe as to have faith in. Essentially, you have faith in literally yourself because The One is within you, and you have faith in who you are, what you do, and that it creates the future. This also means you believe in the others around you because they shape the present and the create the future as well. It allows you to have a natural respect for everything and everyone in your life. That in reality there is a natural balance that must be upheld and an order of things that comes to life.

To this end, the Fanels have a saying:

We are Fanel Warriors.
We tread in the darkness no others will enter.
We do not break away from combat.
We stand on the bridges, and no one may pass us.
We do not retreat, we do not faulter.
We fight in the name of honor.
We live for the One, we die for the One.

But this mantra is reserve only for those who are either House Fanel born or dedicated loyalist to House Fanel. This includes the distaff cousins relations to House Fanel that doesn't bear the Fanel name, but remain loyal and within the House.

House Fanel as influenced by the religion they believe in are all raised, but not necessarily believe in it. One consistency is that they believe they are, as a whole, a symbol of balance. That they take a path that knows there is no true evil or good in the universe. That good and evil are grey and to live a well off life, it is best to stay in between the good and evil, to live beyond good and evil.

Hence they have another saying:

I am grey.
I stand between the candle and the star.
We are grey.
We stand between the darkness and the light.

This saying can be modified for use in groups, and "we" is added. If only one person is reciting this to himself, he would take away the we and replace it with only I.
