Vurdal was born to parents Grilo and Ranick on Stardate 237402.06 and grew up on Benzar in the Belross geostructure with his siblings Monden, Zentin, Kinlor. When Vurdal was only 5 months old, the Dominion occupied Benzar. A few months later, a Romulan fleet liberated the Benzites. As a child, Vurdal enjoyed playing outside, reading, and watching the starship land at the spaceport. After graduating high school, Vurdal attended Starfleet Academy, majoring in Helm Control and Security Operations.
On Stardate 239209.04 Vurdal left his homeworld of Benzar and started at Starfleet Academy. He hadn’t decided which major he wanted to pursue so he decided to just do his core classes. After the first year, he declared his major, Security Operations. He had put a lot of thought into it and didn't want what happened to Benzar when he was an infant. Towards the end of his third year, Vurdal had taken a piloting elective. This had really intrigued him. So much so that he almost dropped his Security major altogether. Vudral decided to double major in Helm Control and still finish his security major. He knew this would keep him at the academy for a year or two more since he decided late to change, but he would finish both. He also decided it would be beneficial to minor in Communications and Operations to help with his future career in Starfleet.
