Personality
- Summary: Due to the nature of his duty post, has cut off all ties with his parents. Intense and strongly motivated, Chen could not be more committed to the causes about which he is passionate. That said, he also has a fun-loving side, even if it takes a while for it to surface. He builds strong bonds of friendship with his colleagues on his placements.

- Temperament: Always loyal to his shipmates.
- Habits: Can sometimes become obsessive about things; he tends to manage this himself as he is aware that this could prove to be a dangerous flaw in the field.
Personal Goals & Motivation
Professional
Simply put, Chen likes to test himself. He is extremely observant, and even as a child he never used to miss a trick. If ever any of his parents had a domestic dispute, he would know even if he didn't witness it, purely by watching they way they interacted with each other. After a while, they would stop trying to cover such things up to spare his feelings, which for a long time created an open bond between all five of them. After a while, however, Chen developed an interest in the Federation at large. He would obsessively watch news reports, taking a particularly keen interest in updates on foreign affairs. For a long time, he dreamed of a career in Starfleet, and as he neared the age for entering the Academy, he became more and more interested in the field of Intelligence. To Chen, information has always been a highly prized commodity, and something more potent than any form of currency.
This led him into trouble on more than one occasion during his studies on Andor. It was not unheard of for him to end up in a fight for eavesdropping on conversations, although from this he learned that being discovered is something that must be avoided at all costs. It is his strongest personal belief that others should always believe that you know less than you actually do.
Having completed his academy training, Chen is now putting it into practice. With the political climate in the Alpha and Beta quadrants just as unstable as ever, he is finding new ways to put his talents to the test with each passing day.
Personal
While Chen now has no contact with his parents, he does miss the chance to interact with such a close group. Rather than face the strictures of Andorian society once again, he is always keen to build and maintain friendships. However, this is something that he prefers to do on his own terms, and no-one else's.

It has now been over two years since Chen contacted his parents on the homeworld. He currently has no intention of re-establishing regular contact in the near future, although he does occasionally arrange for a communiqué to be sent to them to let them know that he is alright. These communiqués are always sent through a third party, on Earth.
Religious Beliefs

Chen does not believe in the Andorian deity, which has led him into conflict with many faithful members of his own species. He prefers to believe that he is the only person who has a say in his destiny.
Personal Timeline
- 238308.31: Leaves Andor in order to join Starfleet Academy.
- 238401.28: Refuses to attend a bonding with pre-arranged bond-mates. This violation of duty brings disgrace on his family, and he is quickly replaced.
- 238703.06: Severs contact with his parents under continuing pressure to return to the homeworld to bond.
Hobbies and Pastimes
- Federation News Network: Chen has retained his passion for foreign affairs, even the ones that he is not included in. As such, he quite regularly listens to the Federation news service, and keeps notes on the current galactic political situation on a large computer screen in his room.
- Memory Games: Unlike some of his classmates from the academy, Chen has not been blessed with an eidetic memory. In order to keep himself sharp, he often plays memory games at his personal computer terminal. As well as keeping his mind active, he also finds them fun.
- Team Activities (Social or Competitive): Always keen to get to know his workmates, Chen enjoys informal social activities and quite often spends his free time in the ship's lounge or mess hall.
Likes and Dislikes

- Earth Desserts: Particularly ice-cream (but not chocolate, as Andorians can't digest it.)
- Holodeck Calisthenics: Chen enjoys the workout of the combat simulations, and the chance to keep his mind and reflexes sharp.

Quarters
Always neat, clean and ship shape. The storage space in his room that is not used for clothing is taken up by pristinely arranged PADDs, each containing observations on news reports for the previous ten years. An additional computer screen is affixed to one wall of his quarters, on which he maps the current state of the Alpha and Beta Quadrant's political landscape. Aside from a few trinkets that remind him of home, his quarters are otherwise relatively sparsely decorated.
He has recently added a cabinet in which to display his holonovel trophies; the silver bone that he won for completing his first holoadventure with Greir Reinard
