The original Galaxy Class, USS Kodiak launched on stardate 237603.29 under the command of Captain Jasen Rendary. This version of the Kodiak was unfortunately short lived as the starship was damaged beyond repair in a border dispute with the Tholians that also cost the life of her only commanding officer, Captain Rendary. The next iteration of the Kodiak would be created as a Dauntless Class vessel under the command of the original Kodiak's first officer, Captain Lang Vedoc, on stardate 237608.01. The original Kodiak is also notable as being the first ship that future Rear Admiral Hollis served aboard. Hollis would later go on to command by the USS Kodiak-A and the USS Kodiak-B.
