Chronological History
Stefan was the eldest of four children, born to a Starfleet Engineering officer, Erhardt Germanovich, and a civil servant mother, Svetlana. He was originally born in Riga, Latvia but at the age of 2 his father was posted to Copenhagen, Denmark, for a short period, but the family moved again to Hamburg, Germany where Stefan spent the majority of his youth growing up. At an early age, Stefan enjoyed team sports, taking part in both rugby and ice hockey, enjoying the physical nature of the sports. From a young age he also had an apt skill for strategy video games and the family board games nights identified him as having a keen mind for planning and logistics.
After his secondary school, which he finished with slightly above average marks, Stefan enlisted in the Starfleet Marine Corps Reserve, eventually switching to the Corps as a regular soldier after completing his training. He served two deployments doing security and stability operations off-world (Location TBD), where he first witnessed both the good that Starfleet did in the world, as well as the evil it tried to shield civilians from. During his second deployment, at the age of 19, he witnessed members of his squad become injured after a roadside bomb hit the aid convoy the were delivering to a refugee camp. Stefan was promoted to Corporal, and was the acting squad leader for the final months of the deployment.
Seeing the leadership potential, his chain of command recommended him for officer screening, and after passing the initial tests he was posted as a cadet to the Academy, where he began his training.
