Fallon Rand grew up on Earth, giving him access to the best of everything that the Federation had to offer. Fallon's parents both worked on Earth so this did limit his opportunity for travel outside of the Sol system.
Fallon did well in school, he was not the best in the class but pretty far from the worst, he made friends well and even had a girlfriend for a while. However at the age of 18 he had decided to join Starfleet, like he mother he wanted to serve but he also felt the need to explore. Upon graduation he was offered several posts at Starfleet academy, he decided to major in Engineering and Operations, feeling that he could specialise once he was assigned to ship.
Again he made friends in the academy but never really found time to keep a girlfriend as focus often makes Fallon a dull boy.
