Colin was born in the city of Dallas, Texas on Earth. His parents were Earth bound Ranchers, following the age old tradition of raising and herding cattle. His early years were spent rising early and working hard on his family's farm. However, he always dreamt of journeying through the stars. As he got older, that dream only became stronger.
After his older brother Mason left home for Starfleet Academy, Colin was determined to follow in his footsteps. Upon his own graduation from school he immediately applied for admission to the Academy. His academic work to this point had been satisfactory at best, and as a result he failed his entrance exam. This was a crushing blow to Colin’s ego, but it was just the kick he needed to get his priorities straight. After rededicating himself to his studies, he retook the exam. This time, while nowhere near the top of the pack, he passed the entrance exam and was bound for the Academy at last.
