(Background/ History)
Born and raised on Trill to a couple of styo bean farmers in the Ganses Peninsula, Sela grew up interested in the growing landscape around him.
In school, he became a voracious reader and would skip his chores on the farm to read in secret behind his favorite purple oak.
He attended Ganses University, where he earned a BA in History and Masters in Sociology. In university, he met a fellow Trill, Beni, who became his lover. Beni influenced Sela to join Starfleet Academy as a Science Cadet, and Sela fell in to the structure and goals of the organization while physician Beni realized that neither Sela nor the stars were cut out for him and remained on Trill to be a part of the Symbiosis Commission--a highly competitive position.
Though still friends, Sela started his journey relatively unmoored from his loved ones and ready to build new relationships. He looked forward to the future and learning more about the strange new worlds he'd heard about in the halls of the Academy.
