Maz Rodan is an enthusiastic and adventurous Trill. He loves exploring the universe and finds excitement in most things. He is bubbly and friendly, yet sometimes often self-reflective. Although he has been Joined for almost a year, he is still coming to terms with the 'new' Maz. He enjoys sports, particularly hockey, basketball and bowling, and has a strong liking for Earth rock and roll. He's a lot laid back than other Trill, and enjoys socializing.

After graduation Maz was posted to the Prometheus class vessel ''USS Dickens'' as a junior science officer. While serving there, he was called back to Trill when the previous host of Rodan passed away. The previous Host had returned to Trill with a terminal disease encountered in space, and knowing that his end was near, recommended Maz to be the next Host.
