Ambitions and Goals
Lawn left his successful career with Earth's Security Forces to persue a life in space. Something about the adventure appealed to him, not to mention...flying. He always wanted to pilot a starship. Every chance he got as a policeman, he took his hover-cruiser as fast as it would go. He really wanted his first Starfleet assignment to be at the helm of a sophisticated starship.
His first assignment on the USS Challenger was as Alpha-shift Helmsman (a fact he was very proud of). Lawn quickly promoted through the junior ranks and became a department head. He served as COO and eventually, CTO. An interesting course of events lead to several key crew members transfering and the FO being re-assigned as a "diplomatic officer". At this point, Captain Frazier appointed Lawn to the position of First Officer.
Eventually, Lawn hopes to command his own vessel...but he's in no hurry. The Challenger is his home, and he enjoys the benefits of serving on a Soveriegn Class ship.
Personal Achievements and Disappointments
Lawn's achievements are substantial. While in the Earth Security Forces Academy, he was president of his class. As a policeman, he was a highly decorated officer. He was also the youngest officer ever to be promoted to investigator. He was involved in numerous top secret assignments, and given the most advanced tactical training. In fact, this was his first introduction to Starfleet. He trained alongside Starfleet Marines and command staff at Starfleet headquarters on Earth. His extensive martial arts background and actual physical combat experience helped him excell. After completing the training, he was one of three graduates to be certified as an advanced tactical instructor.
On the recommendation of the Starfleet Tactical Training Staff, Lawn applied to the Academy. In his first year, he was invited to join Red Squad. While participating in the unique training afforded to Red Squad cadets, Lawn also found time to wrestle for the Academy. He competed all four years, and graduated as the undefeated open weight wrestling champion. After graduation, Lawn was assigned to his choice post as an HCO Officer to the USS Challenger-A!
Jesse was extremely proud to be assigned straight away to the alpha-shift. During his time at the helm, Jesse earned a reputation for maneuvering a heavy cruiser like a scout. His piloting skills are considered the best on Challenger.
Not long after he established himself as a staple officer, Lawn requested further duties. He was granted a secondary duty assignment of ship investigator. Along with this new security designation, Jesse volunteered to serve as ships hand-to-hand instructor. After fighting a challenge match with then FO Tal Tel-ar, Jesse earned the right to the position. The match resulted in a draw...which, against an Andorian (especially one as skilled as Tel-ar) was pretty impressive. As a result, Lawn was sumarily viewed as the most dangerous human on the Challenger.
When Lawn made Lieutenant, the Captain assigned to COO. Earning a position as a Department head was a huge step for the budding officer. He worked hard, but kept his sights set on Tactical. When an opportunity arose, Jesse happily transfered to CTO where he served with distinction until he was promoted to FO.

Parents
Jesse's father, Joseph Lawn, grew up on a Martian colony. Life was rough, but he was a strong guy. When he grew up, he became a builder and construction manager for various biosphere projects. His experience made him a sought after expert. He was eventually contracted by an Earth based family to construct a specialized community. There he met, and fell in love with Katherine, his future wife...and Jesse's mother.
Katherine was a beautiful woman with a sweet, compassionate disposition. She had just left her exo-biology school, against the wishes of her father to persue art. She was home dealing with the fall-out when she met Joseph...and the rest is history.
Siblings
Jesse only has one sister. She is five years younger than he, but very sharp. She currently works as an assistant to a prominent physician on Earth.

Working Areas
Lt. Cmdr. Lawn is the Challenger's Executive Officer. Jesse is a fair and personable officer who is well liked by his subordinates and seniors alike. He is very serious about his duties, and he feels that all bridge officers need to hold themselves to a higher standard. He expects the bridge crew to conduct themselves in a manner that reflects the very essence of Starfleet, and he leads by example. The Lt. Cmdr. exudes a strong, but friendly demeanor that inspires loyalty and comradre. He is an organized and efficent officer, though, not a micro-manager. He operates equally well in moments of chaos or monotonous calm. When things go south on the Challenger, Lawn is quick to get involved.

Important People
Lt. Cmdr. Tallis Rhul is Lawn's closest "Battle Buddy". Initially comrades on the USS Challenger, the two worked numerous assignments together before Tallis tranfered to the USS Ronin as FO.
Commander Tal Tel-ar, Lawn's former First Officer, serves as a mentor to him. Jesse has a tremendous amount of respect and affinity for Tal.
It goes without saying that Lawn has a profound loyalty and dedication to his Captain. Captain Frazier saw potential in the Lt. Cmdr. from the very beginning of Jesse's Starfleet career. Under Frazier's command, Jesse promoted through the junior ranks with smooth efficiency. Jesse takes his role of protecting the Captain very seriously. Lt. Cmdr. Lawn views Captain Samal Frazier as a great man.
Jesse's wife Laura and his two daughters Faye and Kaylee are the loves of his life.
Lieutenant Hannibal Tiberious Parker is a rough ex-marine turned Starfleet squid. Lawn befriended the ruffian when he first came on board. For a brief period, Jesse served as Hannibal's supervisor in the Security/Tactical Department. There's a warrior respect that has made the two significant allies.
