TOSMA 240006.03
USS Gorkon
Ever since Ryan joined the Gorkon, I am amazed by the sims he writes. They are filled with plenty of detailed narrative and there’s always a humorous, funny or witty note in them. Even before writing for a certain character, he already has worked out most of the details in his head. Every character he has written for so far, was inspired by a movie or a tv show. And then he does his magic. While writing his sim, he mimics and weaves those traits, behaviour and posture from that personage into his own character, making his character come to life like I’ve never seen before. Despite his young age, he has a knack for writing older characters with their struggles they have to overcome. So it is with the outmost pleasure we are presenting the TOSMA to Ryan. Congratulations, Ryan! - Samira Neathler

Khan Award 240006.03
USS Gorkon
for the portrayal
of Giria Palnin
One of my all time favourite villains: Giria Palnin. Our time with her was relatively short; but unlike those characters she tormented, we were sad to see her go! Her delicious brand of oozing evil was truly a delight to read and Ryan used her sims to flesh out a character we loved to hate. The thought he’d put into the character was obvious in every aspect of his writing; from her sinister choice of perfume to her chosen tactics, she was truly an individual with unique ambitions and motivations. Fantastic writing, and a well deserved accolade for Ryan! - Quinn Reynolds

O'Brien Award 240107.01
USS Gorkon

Those who receive the O’Brien Award are the people who help the ship run smoothly, taking on tasks which are not glamorous, but a tremendous help to the command staff and a boon to the crew. Ryan’s unceasing efforts help to keep our stories updated on the wiki, ensuring we have a record of all our missions for reference and posterity. He’s also a great champion of other people, highlighting great sims and funny remarks on the forums, and keeping our Discord channels lively and welcoming. In recognition of everything he does for our ship and crew, I’m proud to present him with this year’s O’Brien Award. Well done, Ryan! - Quinn Reynolds

Awards General ScottyCross 2011.jpg
Scotty Cross 240107.01
USS Gorkon
The Scotty Cross is awarded to those who show extreme creativity while solving a dilemma and isn’t Doz the perfect example for such a person? The way Ryan portraits Doz is just amazing, a wire between Doz’ lips, wearing her ocular lenses, a stray of hair that gets in the way. Does Ryan write Doz as a master wizard who solves every problem in a matter of seconds? Not at all. Doz has a knack for including those in the scene with her to solve a puzzle or engineering problem which usually last over the span of several sims. Whether it’s by pushing the enemy into the arms of a helpful citizen, or dropping a bolt in an already tense scene, it all gives the other writers in the scene something to work with. For all the creativity Ryan adds to his sims, it is with great pleasure I award Doz with the Scotty Cross. And I can’t wait to read more of Doz’ adventures. Keep up the good work, Ryan! - Samira Neathler
Awards General SilverPalm 2011.jpg
Silver Palm 240107.01
USS Gorkon
We award the Silver Palm to the writers who have a knack for bringing a spark of humour into the sim, injecting a bit of spice into a lagging scene, all the while keeping those sims true to Star Trek realism. There’s one name which comes to mind for a lot of us, and it’s the writer behind the canny Doz Finch and effervescent Miaxdiso Avoi—Ryan! Both their dialogue and inner worlds are an absolute delight, their unique witticisms making his sims a delight to read. For bringing a smile to our faces and a zing to our sims, I’m very pleased to congratulate Ryan! - Quinn Reynolds

Phoenix Award 240107.04
USS Gorkon
for the portrayal
of Doz Finch
All of Ryan’s nominations spoke about what an imaginative, evocative, and generally wonderful writer he is, and I fully agree! His character, Doz Finch, is an experienced member of the enlisted ranks who experienced a personal trauma which pushed her into making the leap to officer. Ryan’s simmed that transition, with all of its advantages and disadvantages, with incredible flair. He has a real knack for writing an engineer, having Doz jump into tasks with glee, solving problems with a sleeves-rolled-up, grease-on-the-cheek gusto, conjuring vivid descriptions of emotion and action, while never overwhelming his scene partners with technobabble.

Even more impressive is Ryan’s ability to use an engineering problem to create character moments; from fixing a plasma leak with another engineer to solving an issue in the arboretum with an operations officer. It’s all so very well done, and I’m incredibly proud to present him with the Phoenix Award. Congratulations, Ryan! - Quinn Reynolds
