Hi there! You may know me as the CO of the USS Garuda and as my PC, Cassandra Egan Manno. If you've been around for a while, you may remember my previous PCs, Aron Kells and Lily Ventu. I've been with the group since 2005, not including a brief hiatus about halfway between now and then. I'm also the magistrate for the Captains Council and facilitator and lead judge for SB118's bimonthly Writing Challenge.

Characters

Active Aboard the USS Garuda

NCC-73809
Galaxy class
Commanding Officer
Cassandra Egan Manno
Cassie was assigned to starship command from a desk job at Starfleet Administration and a home with her family on Earth. She's learned her style as CO quickly enough, but she still struggles with anxiety regarding a role beyond anything she had trained for, her separation from her loved ones, and her questions regarding why she was assigned to the region.
Chief Medical Officer
Niccoló del Vedova
Dr. Nic del Vedova was originally assigned to the USS Mercury as a favor to his friend, the new CO Kells. However, Del's focus in emergency medicine led to the establishment of a dedicated emergency unit on the Mercury and, later, the Garuda, as well as to his promotion to chief medical officer. Del, who's a true explorer, has found plenty to discover and experience on the frontier, and he's made some friends, too -- like Rahman, who he's accompanied on innumerable adventures.
Scientific Observer
Aron Kells
According to the crew of the USS Mercury, a temporally-displaced, sixty-year-old Aron Kells was last seen high-tailing it to pursue a personal vendetta. Who, then, was the man who arrived on the USS Garuda and appeared to be Kells, but as he appeared when he first commanded the Mercury, in his mid thirties? According to Kells -- and, evidently, backed up by Starfleet -- he was captured and held prisoner by the entity that created and then released "old" Kells for nine months. He spent the previous three months being rehabilitated, and he now serves as a civilian observer on the Garuda. That is, if anyone aboard can forgive the actions of his other self....
Astrophysicist
Nick Parks
Once a brilliant researcher for and an officer (rank: commander) in Starfleet, Dr. Nick Parks quit in the late '80s for work that had nothing to do with his specialty. For while, he just floated; for a while after, he opened a tea shop on Deep Space 10. However, some fortuitous meetings with some old friends and a chance encounter with a revered researcher convinced him to take up astrophysics again, and he's been with the Garuda since its launch, working on several long term projects -- including, and unexpectedly, investigating the disappearance of that revered researcher, Professor J. Cowens.
Biomechanical Engineer
Domane Mint
Definitely young for his rank. Intelligent, but not as intelligent as he thinks. Obsessed with, eventually, creating androids in cast numbers. For now, operates a lab and serves some shifts as a general engineer. Mutters under his breath the whole time.
Communications Specialist
Lucy Ramadevi
A younger officer with her eye set on command. Lucy has taken watch shifts on several ships, including the USS Drake, USS Mercury, and USS Garuda. She would like to be a commanding officer inside of five years. She's quite a gifted linguist, with specialties in complicated nonverbal languages and in immediate translation (for those situations in which a universal translator just won't do).

Active Aboard Deep Space 10

Deep Space 10
Alien-built, Starfleet-developed
Home base for USS Garuda
Administrative Officer
Ari Capronne
Formerly a diplomatic officer aboard the Mercury and Garuda, Ari is now the administrative officer assigned to the Menthar Corridor. He's Starfleet Command's mouthpiece in the region, though as trade and traffic through DSX have increased, he's most often taken a diplomatic role. He much prefers to work behind a desk, though a few times during his career, he's tried to convince himself otherwise (with generally disastrous results).
Historian & Archaeologist
Harku Kvitova
Though a captain, you'd never want to give this man command. He's good at what he does, but he's become so focused upon the Menthar Corridor over the last few years that he rarely ventures outside of the strange library facilities available on DSX anymore.
Commanding Officer
Cojahnna L'Koyweir
This Monchezke commander is a wonderful CO, though her strange speech patterns are something the universal translator can't even touch.

Active Elsewhere in the Menthar Corridor / USS Aquitania

USS Aquitania
NCC-75202
Adamant class
Federation Ambassador
Lily Ventu
Lily was a Starfleet officer before resigning in the mid-'80s to work diplomatically full time. She spent several years as a Federation ambassador before attempting to run for a seat on the Federation Council as the representative from the Trinity, Serellan, and Jenatris Cloud sectors. She failed to accrue the votes necessary to qualify for a primary nomination, however, and since her bid, she's acted as an ambassador-at-large in and around the Menthar Corridor, which keeps her close to several old friends and the patrol region of her husband's vessel.
Commanding Officer
Hayden Reynolds
A medical doctor and the commander of the hospital ship USS Aquitania. Hayden is the partner of Lily Ventu and they have one child together. His flight plan takes the Aquitania all over beyond the galactic west of the Federation, though he's attempted to steer closer to the Menthar Corridor whenever he's able.
Detapa Council Member
Prianna
Prianna was previously an ambassador to the Federation before assuming her current position, one of the members of the Cardassian Union's ruling body. She's one of the more liberal voices on the Council and, unlike many of her fellow councilors, she's always eager for an adventure beyond the confines of Cardassia -- despite her age, which is fairly advanced, particularly for a Cardassian.
