'''Relationship with Genkos''': Genkos helped his father in the surgery practically every day until he went off to the Academy, although sometimes he would raid the 'medicinal' alcohol. Whilst Genkos had been growing up Tillul had taken him camping on a local island every summer, and when Genkos was a teenager, Tillul inserted a mental block into his son's mind, which Genkos has only just discovered. These trips were a favourite of Genkos, although this ended when Genkos lost his leg. It was to aid Tillul in surgery aboard a starship that Genkos lost his leg, and Tillul holds some guilt over the incident, and as such created Genkos' first cane from a tree in the family's back garden. When Genkos graduated, Tillul handed him a bonding gift which contains something that Genkos will apparently need in his darkest hour. Tillul had opened the box that his father had handed him on the day Genkos had lost his leg, and it contained a battered veterinary textbook, which he supposed was to remind him of his chosen course in life. This incident had also further deepened Tillul's atheistic tendencies. Genkos does not yet know that his father is a murderer.
