He lead a normal, happy but unremarkablelife as a commercial shuttle pilot until about the age of 23, when anion storm caused his shuttle to crash on an abandoned moon. One of hispassengers was the renouned trill scientist Marlee Tan, anexobiologist who specialized in the Borg, who was mortally wounded.  The rescue party couldn't save her and her post extraction symbiotewas also extremely weak.
