Tye Ghyurn Waltas is the child of Colonel Tyr Waltas and Eden Redstone, and twin brother to Sanuye Maxwell Waltas. While the two boys are considered twins, Tye is the good-natured, hard-bodied, heart-on-the-sleeve shadow of his father. To protect both him and his brother, then-Captain Waltas spirited them away to the Ba'ku Homeworld, under the protection of their half-sister, Daisha. Unbeknownst to everyone, the radiation from the Ba'ku planet's rings had the opposite effect. Instead of preventing normal aging, the Vulcan/Ba'ku hybrid physiology caused both Sanuye and his brother to age rapidly; so much so that Daisha barely removed them from the planet before their aging grew out of control. In a matter of a year, Sanuye and Tye aged 21 years, and are now fully-grown adults.
Tye accepted this plight with his usual good nature, beginning to form friendships with the crew of the USS Discovery-C and his family. He was fascinated by starship travel and, like his father, struck with a sense of wanderlust. He considered it a blessing to be free of the Ba'ku homeworld and given a chance to explore the stars with the people he loved. However, it was not to be.
His twin Sanuye, feeling robbed of his childhood, resented his father and took the decommissioning of Discovery as a chance to get away from them. He applied to Starfleet Academy and was accepted. As Tye had always protected his frail twin brother, he felt the need to watch over his twin and, although it devastated him to do so, followed Sanuye to Starfleet.

ABILITIES: Based on his mixed heritage, Tye like his brother enjoys the gifts of superior strength and intelligence from his Vulcan blood and instinct, smell and night vision from his Ba'ku bloodline. Tye is a physical specimen, toned and chiseled physique and rugged good looks, and excels in physical activities such as sports and combat drills. He is deceptively strong and intuitive although he does not always show it in his personality, preferring to get to know people instead of impressing them. He is flawlessly loyal to his brother, and even when sharply rebuked (which happens often given Tye's reliance on emotion) by his brother, he will not allow him to come to harm.
- Stardate 239102.01: Tye begins his Cadet training at Starfleet Academy.
- Stardate 239203.15: Tye and his half-sister Daisha are called to Duronis II by Admiral Turner. Tye is allowed to finish his final year of the Academy in the field, being trained by Embassy personnel in Helm/Comm/Ops.
- Stardate 239311.04: Tye is promoted to Ensign, his service at the Embassy counted as his final year at the Academy.
