First Scientist Ergaholz was assigned - without the consent or knowledge of the vessels Captain - to the SCV Ascended Codex before it was dispatched to Theta 122. In The Ultimatum (Arrow) he was tasked with a somewhat secret mission. The science officer effectively sabotaged the ship and ordered it to fire an energy beam onto the planet, again without the consent of its commanding officer.

After a confrontation with Captain Grettze, the Sheliak scientist left the ship via a shuttle and made a rendezvous with the USS Arrow, to speak to Captain Shayne personally about an internal Sheliak matter.
After a confrontation with Captain Grettze, the Sheliak scientist left the ship via a shuttle and made a rendezvous with the USS Arrow, to speak to Captain Shayne personally about an internal Sheliak matter. Arriving on board, the scientist claimed asylum on the Federation ship before revealing that the Corporate knew of the Iconian Gateway concealed on Theta 122. Working with the engineering and science team, Ergaholz suggested containing the Gateway rather than destroying it. Once the plans were in place, he betrayed the Starfleet ship by destroying the science labs equipment and running (with as much grace as a sludgy silicon-based life form can...) away with a copy of the teams data. Lieutenant Serinus and Ensign Caden gave chase while Ensign Ander coordinated with security to erect forcefields to hinder the escapee. In bright light, however, Sheliak become weak, and the chase was short.

At the end of the mission, Ergaholz was remanded in Starfleet custody.
