PROMOTION TO THE RANK OF COMMODORE. For an officer to be eligible for promotion to the rank of Commodore the following criteria must be satisfied:

The officer must hold a rank no less than Captain and have held said rank for a minimum of 90 days;

The officer must have been recognized by the Executive Council as being the Commanding Officer of a ship;

The officer must have served in the position of Commanding Officer for no less than five years, whether over one continuous tenure or cumulatively over multiple tenures. The initial date from which to calculate the officer's eligibility is the date when they first took command of a ship, not when they were promoted to Captain.

If the above criteria are satisfied, the candidate will be considered to have automatically been nominated for promotion to Commodore, and the EC shall vote as to whether to approve the promotion.

Should the promotion be approved, the officer immediately receives an Out of Character (OOC) club promotion to Commodore. The date of final EC approval shall be entered as their effective date of promotion. Once the promotion is approved, the officer can likewise be promoted in name and practice In Character (IC) to Commodore if they wish at any time after the approval.

If the officer already holds a rank higher than Commodore, their rank remains unchanged, but a record of the bestowment of the exclusive Commodore title to them shall still be noted by an EC vote to mark the occasion of their fifth year in command.
