She had spent a long time while comforting Jo in working out exactly what she needed to do and essentially pushed her way into leading the surgery instead of one of the more experienced Doctors onboard the Triumphant. During the surgery, Caitríona removed a microscopic piece of the blade Theeda used which had a poisonous material attached to it which was slowly making its way to the woman's heart to kill her.
