Being something of a xenophile and curious by nature, Avarin has an interest in learning about alien cultures and philosophy as well as anything technologically-related.

Avarin was born in ShiKahr, a desert city located on the edge of Vulcan's Forge. As a child, she learned to dance and was introduced to the Pleenok. Her teachers noted her aptitude for mathematics and interest in technology and steered her studies accordingly. While Avarin embraced the discipline of logic, it was discovered that detachment of emotion proved more difficult for her.
