Leigh is an extremely competent engineer and experienced veteran. A native of the Colony Tarsus IV, Leigh has been told stories Tarsus IV Massacre since she was a small child. She is also deeply religious and leans on her faith during difficult times, however, Leigh does not seek to proselytize. She has a wry sense of humor and a matter-of-fact attitude. She constantly presses the enlisted under her to maintain their discipline and professionalism while on duty.

Leigh has been in Starfleet since her early twenties, motived to join by the increased tensions surrounding the Bajorian sector, first with the Klingons and Cardassians and later the Dominion. Leigh served through the Dominion War as first-class torpedo specialist. After the War she re-enlisted and continued on an engineering career path, although she has not spent her career in engineering rooms of Starships. She has completed a secondment with a marine unit and a rotation at Starfleet Academy as an assistant engineering instructor.
