Spatial Analysis: Galdan Sector

Due to its lack of strategic importance and distance from Earth, Starfleet records on this sector are not extensive. As well as initial terraforming reports, there have been a total of 8 surveys of the sector in the last century.

Kalvar Gate system

The most studied system in the sector, due to the presence of three terraformed human colonies. KG is a planetary system consisting of 11 planets orbiting a G-type star.

  • Analysis of planets:
    • KG1 = Class J
    • KG2 = Class A, Metal rich, suitable for mining operation (Ehrud Survey, 2377)
    • KG3 = Class M, Inhabited by Human colony
    • KG4 = Class 0, Inhabited by Human colony
    • KG5 = Class L, Inhabited by Human colony
    • KG6 = Class P, Metal rich, suitable for mining operation
    • KG7 = Class P
    • KG8 = Class B, 12 satellites (Vulcan survey, 2351)
    • KG9 = Class B
    • KG10 = Class H
    • KG11 = Class I

Other than it's mineral rich planets and unusually large number of planets the Kalvar Gate is a relatively unremarkable planetary system.

Ehrud System

The home system of the Ehrud species; first discovered 2307 by the Federation Starship Newton. As a pre-warp society First Contact was not made at that time. Federation anthropologists considered the Ehrud society for "Duck-Blind" observation in 2355 but the planet's violent and unpredictable political climate made them reconsider.

A six planetary system, only the fourth planet is inhabitable.

Nalguran System

The home system of the [{Species: Nalguran|Nalguran]] race; discovered in 2307. The system contains two Class M planets: Nalgura Prime (the third planet) and Nalgura 4, which is uninhabited but boasts a number of ancient ruins and archaeological sites (Daystrom Institute survey, 2348)

Kisari System

Type K star system with one Class Y planet. Little data on the system has been collected due to unexplained gravitational distortions, which make navigation within the system virtually impossible.

Notable Phenomena

  • The Kingston Nebula: Named for Alexis Kingston, CSO of the USS Newton. A huge nebula containing a number of chemicals particularly large concentrations of Helium and the highly flammable Cyrillium. Navigation is possible within the nebula but only at sub-light speeds and the Nebula's particularly high density interferes with ship's system such as sensors and phasers.
  • There have been reports of abnormally high antiprotons in much of the sector (Bolian survey, 2331) it has been theorised that this would make cloaking technology virtually obsolete within the region; this has however been as yet unproved.
  • The initial Vulcan science survey noted an unusual phenomenon, which was not included in any official scientific record but was described by their Chief Science Officer as Yon'sahriv (Fire-Storm). Although this phenomenon has never been fully explained there have been a number of unexplained combustion related accidents within the sector. A Cardassian exploration vessel was lost, along with all hands, in 2369 when it was engulfed in an unexplained ball of fire.
