Preparing Your Upload

  • This useful guide from The (Image) Collective will help you prepare to upload images for use on the wiki.
  • To help us optimize images for size, run your image through TinyJPG (also works on PNGs) first – it's fast and free.
  • Do NOT crop attributions, watermarks or other copyright notices from an image.
  • If you are uploading an AI-generated image, you MUST note that it is AI art in the summary! In addition:
    • Images and art created by the Image Collective are prohibited from being used as training data for AI/machine-learning generated art tools.
    • Individual works created by Starbase 118 members are also prohibited from being used unless provided explicit written permission by the creator.

Using Your Uploaded File

To include a file in a page, use a link in one of the following forms:

  • [[File:File.jpg]] to use the full version of the file
  • [[File:File.png|200px|thumb|left|alt text]] to use a 200 pixel wide rendition in a box in the left margin with 'alt text' as description
  • [[Media:File.ogg]] for directly linking to the file without displaying the file

Uploading New Image Versions

If you are uploading a new version of an image, the new version may not appear for a while.

  • Try clearing your browser cache: CTRL+F5 (PC) or CMD+R (Mac)
  • If that doesn't work, try purging the wiki's page cache by adding &action=purge to the URL of the page you are viewing. For example:

  • If you're still not seeing the new image, head to our Discord chat server and ask for help in the #wiki channel.
