Hello! — I'm Ryan (He/They) and I am currently writing for the primary character Doz Finch. Say hello on discord: thelovelycorpse#5400 OOC Rank start date November 2022 Ensign Doz Finch 62-year-old Human Engineering Officer (USS Gorkon) As a roleplayer, and as a writer in general, I've always enjoyed and preferred telling the stories of characters that have already led full and varied lives, and not for the reason people may think. There is this idea that once you reach a certain point in your life, you become free of your strange traits and habits and rituals. I don't think that this is true in the slightest. For a lot of people, their unchecked persona's can fester, become riddled and complex and even a little archetypal. These are the characters I love to write. Doz Finch is a woman whose career in Starfleet has been anything but ordinary; originally the youngest child of four, when her brothers left Earth to pursue engineering careers, they left her to deal with their miserable and deeply troubled mother, throwing the most important years of her teenage life into gloom. Yet something her brother Wallace said not only stuck with her but planted the seed of escape —— he had advised Doz to fill her time by reading repair manuals, so that she could maintain and fix all of the tricky technology in their home. Although furious with him over it, she did in fact do it and after a year became something of a self-taught technician. Encouraged by her best friend Murphy, she catapulted herself into an enlisted career, leaving all of the misery behind. Forty years on, and shortly after Murphy's death, the next part of her story begins at Starbase 118. Get to know me Where are you from? The UK. What do you do for a living? I work on planes. ✈️ Any hobbies? Machinima, Travel (is that a hobby?), being an expert hermit with my cat. Favourite place? Prague 📍 What's the best TV series you ever watched? LOST, and my favourite character was Juliet. Favourite Trek series? VOY & PIC. (Big Janeway fan) Favourite film franchise(s)? The Alien franchise and the Hunger Games films. Favourite all time film? Matilda! What's your happy place? If I'm not on a city-break somewhere in Europe, then it's watching a Netflix show with some good food. Why did you join 118? Its long history, its attention to detail, its fun visual element such as the wiki, and its clear commitment to continue evolving as a group. What are your goals at Starbase 118? Always to continue becoming a better all-round simmer, and to eventually have a menagerie of characters that I can dip in and out of. In the future that I hope is not so distant, I want to join the Academy team, and be a mentor in general on the ship I am serving on.
