Nausicaans are tall, surly, ill-tempered humanoids from an unknown planet in deep space. After 60 years of contacts between the Nausicaans, there is still little known about them. They have scattered outposts on the borders of the Federation near Ferengi space, leading to the theory that the Nausicaan homeworld is somewhere in the Ferengi's sphere of influence. Nausicaans are generally very inhospitable with vaguely lizardlike faces and have attacked people with little provocation.
Three Nausicaans were provoked into a fight by a young officer Picard in the roughhouse Bonestell Recreation Facility at the Farspace Starbase Earhart on the old pre-alliance Klingon frontier. Perhaps representative of their cultural level at the time, one stabbed Picard with a serrated-edge metal sword. Raiders from this large humanoid race broke in to the central museum on Remmil VI using a high-frequency ultrasonic generator to break through the native spun-crystalline webbing used in construction. One is a customer of Garak's on Deep Space Nine, upset when the tailor misplaced his wedding suit.
