Capital ship

Capital ship is a general term for any military starship with a length greater than 100 meters (the size of a Renaaran corvette). They are typically designed for warfare in deep space, and are usually the primary attack vessels in any fleet.

These vessels are usually coated with weaponry, running from phasers to disruptors, photon torpedoes to plasma torpedoes, ion cannons to turbolasers. A large number of capital ship classes serve as carriers; conveying picket ships, freighters, and starfighters into the fray.

Given their invariably huge size, capital ships often employ enormous crews that can number into the thousands.
