Late Business Part 2

((SB118 - Commercial Sector - New Orleans Sector))

::Brek waited until Glutik had nearly finished his meal before he returned to their conversation. The Tellarite was consuming his food with such a voracity that talking at the same time would have been unpleasant for any interlocutor.::

::So, with the last of the pecan pie gone, Brek reiterated his interest in local trade routes.::

Glutik: I take contracts as they come, you know. If I could afford to be choosy, believe me, I'd have a different look on me.

Brek: ::Grinning. People at a disadvantage were often easier to convince.:: It is in my interest to see that the trade with the Thracian Alliance flourishes. So... if you could keep an eye on what is going on around you, and report to me, there might be some reward coming your way.

Glutik: ::Looking at him, wide eyed.:: You want to make an espy of me?

::Brek was about to ridicule the word picked by the Tellarite. However a waitress approached their table and told them that the restaurant was about to close for the night.::

Glutik: Isn't this a bit early? It's not even 1 am! I've seen eating places that serve meal 24/7.

Waitress: ::Casting an icy look at Glutik, and turning to Brek.:: Whom, among you two gentlemen, is going to pay the bill?

Brek: ::In a dismissive tone of voice, because he was getting flustered by this interruption.:: Would you be kind enough to put it on the diplomatic corps' tab?

::She must have felt that it meant `where the sun doesn't shine' because she scoffed at him.::

Brek: By the Great Material Continuum! Do I look like a thief??

::Right then, Glutik produced a small flatulence that seemed to reply to the question with a `yes'.::

Waitress: You two have got quite an act, but you still need to pay for your food. Failing this, I can assure you that are going to regret our path ever met.

::Brek considered her, and decided that she was looked definitely dangerous.::

Brek: Do you have a PADD, so that I can prove my identity?

Waitress:: ::Producing a palm-size PADD.:: Sure.

::Brek entered his details, which were accepted with a reassuring beep by the device. The waitress checked his name, frowned, and walked away.::

Glutik: I can't believe it! She didn't even say `thank you'.

Brek: ::With a grunt.:: It would have helped if you had kept quiet, at every end.

Glutik: Pffft! It's always the same with good-looking people! They think they can barge in and walk all over us!

Brek: ::Getting up with a heavy sigh:: I have had enough. Good night Glutik. If you have anything interesting for me, send a note to my office.

::He left it at that and went directly to his quarters.::
