History

The universe holds many dangerous and wonderful things, but it does not prepare one for facing a race that should not have existed. Thought to be a theory, the appearance of the Hunger proved the existence of the Big Bang’s opposite, the Big Crunch. The Hunger, a race to have used their technological might to survive the Big crunch of an earlier evolutionary reality has returned to consume the galaxy and use it for their own purposes. Evolving in a different cycle of reality, the Hunger became a dominant force only being kept in check by another hyper-advanced race called Yelta.

As the universe began to shrink, both races developed the technology to instantaneous transport their star systems out of reality for a moment and timed it so their worlds re-appeared as the big bang began to expand again. In a desperate move to save the next evolution of species, The pulse of the Yeltans was detonated first sacrificing most of their population, but the few nanoseconds before the Hunger activated theirs allowed them to shift the location of the Hunger home-world to the farthest edges of the known universe. This would buy the next evolution a chance to develop and hopefully become ready to defend themselves.

Government

The Hunger do not function on any form of government that would be recognized by most sapient life. They do have an order of precedence with hunger-lings at the bottom of the list followed by arc-plagues, and at the top, Dominators.

Description

A single member of the species is about the size of a human, but can be considerable shorter or longer dependent on what they have been mutated to be. They could be small skuttlers that are only 2 feet in length to large juggernauts with sharp blades for hands. What they have in common is their skin is milky white, almost translucent, pure black eyes, and a mouth full of small razor teeth.

They also have the ability to cause a fear reaction in species. This ability is psionic and all races except the Laudean people are affected in some way.

Physiology

Scuttlers

These are small mindless creatures that attack and convert any organic matter they can come in contact with, preferably going after live prey first. These are the lowest creatures on the Hunger Caste system. They are used as cannon fodder and distraction against their enemies while the other castes focus on their specific assignments.

Hunger-ling

About a four foot creature that stands on four legs, the front to raised considerable, the hunger-ling is the ground forces that fight and command the lower caste scuttlers. Vicious and able to use their telepathic power to implant fear in to the minds of their prey, the Hunger-ling is a dangerous force to face.

Prowler

Sleek and quick, the prowler caste are sentries and spies able to watch and learn from enemy movement and inform the One-Mind "live" action reports.

Gorgons

Large, 6 foot tank like hulks that utilize organic phaser technology to smash and pummel their way through heavily fortified structures.

Arc-Plagues

The Talons are razor clawed Hunger with the innate ability to support the slower Gorgons and provide distraction and defense for them. They are symbiotic with the Gorgons.

Dominators

The one mind is the central processor hunger who commands the ship, base, or facility. It is the command hub that guides the attack, plans strategies, and deal with the tactics of their enemies.

Mutation

When a specific caste is decimated, a member of any hunger caste is able to mutate itself in to the needed replacement if it consumes the correct amount of bio-matter. This way, they cannot be decapitated if their Dominator caste is killed. The intelligence level is dependent on caste, but only the Scuttlers are mindless and unable to mutate to a higher caste.

Psychology

Religion

None Known.

Mythology

None Known.

Society

None Known.

The Hunger consider themselves the epitome of evolution and that all others are only there to serve them as food. Because of their natural matter-conversion biology, anything that is infected with a enough hunger DNA will be turned into a palpable food source.

Their goal is to spread, feed and prepare for the next cycle of evolution to begin again. All their goals and society is driven to this sacrificing culture for their desire to feed.

Culture

If the Hunger had any culture, it has long been destroyed by their destructive need to feed and hunt.

Technology

Hyper advanced and focused on organic technology, the Hunger have developed many similar pieces as other races, but focus on physically linking their DNA into things. Everything is Hunger being separated or not.

Most of their power sources are modulated singularities and powerful split beam meson cannons that rip through standard shielding with ease.

Economy

The Hunger do not have an known economy.

Military

Scavenger Class Frigate

The smallest of the Hunger ships, it is still deadly and powerful with the ability to latch on to other ships and funnel their skuttlers through to infest and convert the ship.

Infestor Class Destroyer

Devourer Class Cruiser

Consumer Class Dreadnought

World Eater – The largest and twice the size of Earth’s moon, these ships land on planets unleash their tentacles and absorb life matter of the planet. The also release their minions to infect and convert the world to their food source. World Eaters are tough skinned and extremely hard to kill. Many Federation armadas have been lost trying to stop them.
