Readers Universities

With the number of telepaths, empaths, and those classified generally as "readers" numbering over 1 billion just among the Federation population, educational facilities for readers are in moderately high demand. Seeking to assist readers in specializing their abilities moreso than the normal upbringing on their homeworlds, these educational insitutions are wildly diverse in their aims, sizes, and faculty.

State sponsored

Facilities in this category are sponsored entirely by the government of a particular planet or species.

• University of Betazed: Undoubtedly the largest known state-sponsored school, the University of Betazed actually has a number of colleges which are dedicated to various facets of t/e education. This includes a college devoted specifically to the study and research of the telepathic and empathic phenomenon, as well as a few small colleges devoted to training for particular fields of work.

Independently Funded

Facilities in this category are sponsored mainly by student contribution. While some funding may come from state-sponsored grants, these do not fund the schools entirely.
