In 2372, Lephi was born in Ferenginar, Ferenginar. Her father was a moderately successful freighter captain who spent much of her early years off planet, working to earn profit for his now larger family. Her early years were remarkably unremarkable with her hitting Ferengi child milestones at roughly the average ages. Once she began speaking, things were anything but unremarkable. Though she had the natural skills required by Ferengi to excel at profiteering it was obvious to many that her heart was not in it. Her brother tried hard to teach her the way a proper, profit motivated Ferengi was supposed to act, but she was much more interested in what her mother had to say. As she entered the Ferengi learning ages, this continued much to the embarrassment of her older brother who was often picked on for having a sibling that was so markedly different from the rest of the society they lived in. After more than a few subspace calls to their father’s freighter, he was convinced that the best thing for her was to journey off-world with him so she could learn to find her passion firsthand, away from the pressures of Ferenginar and the bad influence that he felt her mom was.

The crew aboard her father’s ship were initially cold to her, and gave her gifts accordingly. She was raised in a world of commerce and trade, leaving her diplomacy and speaking skills finely honed. She is data driven and results oriented. Lephi was born to a cunning father named Frego, and a subservient mother named Nophi on an unsurprisingly rainy day in Ferenginar on stardate 237206.20. She was the second of three children that Nophi had gifted to her cold, distant husband in the hopes of reigniting their passion. Her father was absent for much of her early years, traveling the Alpha Quadrant on business. As a result of his inconsistent presence she is much closer to her mom, causing Frego to blame himself for Lephi's perceived failures.
Despite outward appearances, Lephi is plagued with self doubt and internal criticism. Most of the time she can keep these things under control, but certain stressors and situations can cause her to spiral. She holds herself to rigorously high standards, sometimes to her own detriment. She has a bit of a quick temper when she feels she's been slighted, and often resents people she feels do not work as hard as she does. Often times she is guilty of taking herself too seriously, though she definitely knows how to have a good time in the right situations. Spending her whole life making deals and negotiating with every alien she came across has honed her ability to manipulate others, and she often uses it to get things she wants


This internalized anger caused him to overcompensate trying to make up for lost time. He began taking her on his freighter as soon as she was old enough to travel without getting space sick. It was here that Lephi really prospered. She met many different species during her travels throughout the quadrant. Practically growing up on the ship meant that she became very familiar with the layout and feel of it. When something broke, she was the one the crew came to rely on for a fix.


Because of her position as a fixer, and later as the fixer, she built a wide range of contacts for procuring ship parts and making profit. She has a lot of friends scattered around the quadrant, the older ones tend to view her as a daughter.

From a young age, she was a freighter captain. She traveled all over the Alpha and Beta quadrants doing business with many species who needed her spare parts, her repair skills, or her salvaging skills. Once she turned 18 and completed the attainment ceremony she applied to Starfleet Academy. Focusing her studies on component engineering and a newfound passion in programming, she completed 60 credit hours to fit in both specializations.

Their relationship continued on in a strictly professional manner for a while, with Lephi having deep-seated respect for the Al-Leyan woman. Over time spent serving together and working long hours, the two gradually became friends until Lephi asked Lael to be her maid of honour at the upcoming nuptials to which Lael surprised the Ferengi by extending the same offer in reverse after accepting the role. Lephi has always felt that she could approach Lael for any professional issues she had, and now she happily knows she can talk to Lael about anything and the woman won't pull punches.
