 After her training was finally finished, Caitríona was posted to the USS Gorkon as a Medical Officer. After immediately boarding the Gorkon, she was briskly shuffled to her quarters where she had to prepare for an away mission. [[Jocelyn Marshall|First Officer - Lieutenant Commander Jo Marshall]], [[Corliss Fortune|Councillor - Lieutenant JG Corliss Fortune]] and [[Groznin Smith|Security & Tactical Officer - Lieutenant JG Groznin Smith]] were already in preparation for their mission on [[Ma no Umi|Nassau]] in the [[Ma no Umi]] region. Caitríona was on board the shuttle and waited until she was called into action. Lt. Cmd Marshall thought her assistance would be needed from the get-go - so it didn't take long before she found herself submerged in a bustling dock full of people. This was the furthest she has ever been from home.

 It was here Caitríona's skill as a Medical Officer were put to the test. She had spent a long time while comforting Jo in working out exactly what she needed to do and essentially pushed her way into leading the surgery instead of one of the more experienced Doctors onboard the Triumphant. During the surgery, Caitríona removed a microscopic piece of the blade Theeda used which had a poisonous material attached to it which was slowly making its way to the woman's heart to kill her. She removed this and drained the poison. However when everything was finished - Jo Marshall's heart began to fail and eventually stopped. By using revival techniques, Caitríona was able to restart the heart and save the Commander's life.

This was the start of a professional relationship between the two as the Gorkon returned to Earth for the wedding of it’s commanding officer. While on Earth, a temporary position opened up at the Academy which Cait undertook.

+Caitríona took up a position teaching Pharmacotherapeutics in Nursing at the academy for 8 months to fill in for it’s permanent holder who went on maternity leave.
