As is common among the El-Aurian culture his family hailed from, he has notable body modifications. At the moment they merely consist of a line of piercings along the bridge and length of his nose, and geometric tattoos on his forearms.

Taelon is generally a warm and genial sort - and notably self-effacing. Despite his age, he acts and feels rather less mature than his colleagues. A combination of an isolated, colonial upbringing and a lack of real world experience have left him knowledgeable on scientific fronts, but ultimately naive and untested. He is extremely aware of this - perhaps too aware, as his lack of confidence in his own abilities borders on crippling.

As a scientist he is skilled and dedicated to his work, often working extremely long hours and dedicating himself wholly to a problem until he is satisfied with his results. He has trouble sleeping on the best nights and will often forgo it entirely if there's work to be done. Since being introduced to it by the human colonists on Cestus III, Taelon has slowly developed something of an addiction to coffee.

Taelon’s overall academic performance was typical. Notably, he failed and had to retake some courses, including his Klingon linguistic courses and Stellar Cartography. His performance in his robotics and exotech courses gained him note for being capable of adapting and working with little-known technology and computer systems.
