Shortly after the away teams beams down to Estava, contact is lost thanks to jamming and Theo sets about modifying the main deflector to shift communications into another quantum domain (a trick learned from his mother who learnt it from former members of the Bajoran resistance) when a test signal fires back a strange, piercing sound. Soon after he develops an intense headache and then collapses in a turbo lift. While unconscious he finds himself in a mine on Estava and watches as a Reman woman is dragged to her death by a composite of limbs. He comes around terrified and discovers that CMO [[Johanna MacLaren]] also experienced the same thing. Puzzled, she runs a comparison scan of Theo's neural activity and discovers abnormalities which may mean he is either developing telepathy or is now prone to telepathic communication- and posits that this is likely due to the Iconian's assault he suffered during the events of [[Paved with Good Intentions (Columbia)|Paved With Good Intentions]]. After the death of Crewman T'Laris, it transpires that Theo is able to see events that have already occurred.

While attempting to circumvent circumvent a jamming signal, he was exposed to a strange communications signal that gave him a bad headache. Shortly afterwards he collapsed in a turbolift. While unconcious, he experienced a vision of a mutiliated Crewman T'Laris and then witnessed the death of a Reman miner at the hands of a composite of limbs. Coming around in Sickbay, he was surprised that Doctor Johanna MacLaren had experienced the same events. She then discovered that the assault he suffered during the events of [[Paved With Good Intentions (Columbia)|"Paved With Good Intentions"]] had left him with genetic damage that could have left him with telepathic capabilities.
