Three generations ago, a newly-married Aurelian couple emigrated to Earth. After traveling around the planet for several months, they discovered a place near one of the largest oceans on the planet where vast numbers of Terran avian life lived quite happily. These "pigeons" as the Terrans called them seemed to be quite happy, so the couple settled in Middletown Township, in a portion of the North American continent known as New Jersey. They immediately felt at home here, and before long had their prime brood. From this brood, Bruno (they had decided to adopt nice-sounding Terran names for their offspring) grew and eventually fell in love with an Aurelian female named Doreen O'Connor who lived just across the water in a place known as New York, New York.
This family of first-generation immigrants soon grew their family to fifteen. In their third and final brood was one particularly feisty youngster they named Lenny.

Lenny seemed to be a magnet for trouble from a very young age. If he passed a weekend without getting in some level dust-up, he considered it "idle time." In his 12th year, he got into a physical altercation that resulted in him losing the center toe on his left foot, earning him the nickname "Two-Toes." The medical personnel attending said they could have regrown it quite simply, but Lenny declined, saying the "battle scar" gave him "street cred."
It wasn't all fights and mischief with Lenny though. He had a close group of friends - some of whom were rather surprising to his parents. For instance, a retired astrophysics professor from Starfleet Academy had, in her golden years, opened a patisserie on the boardwalk, just a short flight from where Lenny and his family lived. He was immediately hooked on her oh-so-flaky croissants, and the shop became part of his morning routine. The shop owner and Lenny struck up a friendship, talking about space travel, the various things they'd learned that week, and so on. It was through her stories of service in Starfleet before teaching at the Academy that Lenny became interested in considering the career path for himself.
240001.01-Present - Starfleet
Lenny, now 15 (an adult by Aurelian standards), took a shuttle to San Francisco, California in hopes of enrolling at Starfleet Academy. After two failed attempts of the entrance exam however, he took option B: enlist.
