  Born into a new era for the Ferengi in which a womans right to earn profit openly had become the norm, Jolar was the sole daughter of a wealthy family who, with the support of her progressive parents, began building her portfolio at the gentle age of three, when she shorted her first shares of Sluggo Cola, which turned out to be a shrewd strategy and earned her a small fortune.  As she has matured, she's regularly 'beat the street,' and made unorthodox financial decisions that regularly earned her profit on deals other traders have called a lost cause.  Her future at the Ferengi Commerce Authority seemed certain, but she again shocked the pundits by announcing her intention to attend Starfleet Academy and become a Fleet officer to, in her words, 'Get all the experience of being a Da'mon, but get the Hu'mans to pay for it.  It's brilliant!'  She has approached the entire situation with an eye to the future, and regularly makes people she meet sign non-disclosure agreements about their conversations so that they might be more surprising when later released in her holo-autobiography, already tentatively titled 'The Tools of Acquisition: How I Came To Be The First Female Grand Nagus.'
