It was discovered that the creatures had an powerful effect on anyone with with any kind of extra sensory perception, causing injury and headaches. During this mission, Tyler worked closely with the science and engineering departments to develop a device that shielded the tele/empathic crew members from the effects of the Jenatris creatures.
