Born in Kalus (Denobula) to Jorx, an oceanographer, and Lora, a xeno-anthropologist, Drex has a twin sister Ayra, born a few minutes before him, with whom he shares a very special bond. | |||
Kalus is a medium-sized coastal city in the Vespian region and Drex spent his childhood playing on the beach with his sister and half-brother Ral and trying out all the water sports available. | |||
He attended the local schools with mixed results, but he always managed to avoid failing any of his classes. | |||
From an early age he showed an interest in the visual arts and more than a once he decorated the walls of his home without permission. | |||
He mainly lived with his mother and although he had a good relationship with his father, who taught him to sail, he has always got on better with his stepfather Dorji. Drex loved to draw and Dorji always encouraged his passion and taught him everything he knew about art and architecture. | |||
Drex has always been fascinated by Ral's charisma. Well aware of this, Ral has often convinced his less daring little brother to join him on his raids. When Drex and Ayra were 10 years old and Ral was 12, the three of them secretly set out to explore the coast in Jorx's small sailboat. They were surprised by bad weather, and only the day after they were found shipwrecked on one of the uninhabited islands. The fear and scolding of his parents did not stifle Ral's adventurous spirit nor his influence on Drex and Ayra. | |||
