Serala's parents met when her father, seeing R'val's discontent with the way the Imperial Government was treating the Military, began to groom her as an informant. As a Commander of a Warning, R'Val made a great resource for Commander Davis, until they fell in love. Faced with the difficult position to defect to Romulus, or break off the relationship, Davis was about to do the unthinkable when the Tal'Shiar intervened. Realizing she was compromised, R'Val turned to her Human lover and effected her escape just in the nick of time.
