Relk, his father and sister grew very close as the lived and work together after elder brother and mother left. Relk felt sad when Seja left for Starfleet and they grew apart. Relk work various jobs on his father freight ship but seemed to have knack for engineering. Relk hoped to chief engineer one day but as his father feel in love with the current chief engineer Sonya who he liked as a mentor and friend, he realised his dream was impossible. His father pushed him to find work on another ship and he felt further regretted by his family. He visited Seja to try to rebuilt that relationship but he pushed her further away. | |||
In the end he look her advice and took some counselling and decided to make a fresh start and join Starfleet. He didn't want to spend 4 years at the academy so joined a fast track scheme to experience engineers that included 3 months basic training and then 6 month placement on the ship before being given a higher enlisted rank due to experience. | |||
When he saw the list of assignment the USS Constitution was listed and he put it as first choice without even thinking. He missed his family and wanted to sort things with his sister. He was surprised when he got assigned there. | |||
