Kaz was born on USS Brunel and she lived there with her mother until at the age of 3 when her mother was killed. Her father did visit regularly in those years but his name was never recorded on the birth record. At that point she moved to a Federation colony to live with her uncle and his wife. Her uncle had never planned to have children but felt a commitment to look after his little sister’s child. | |||
Kaz grew up in a small settlement outside one of the main cities of a large colony. Their family ran a retreat there. Although she was an only child she spent a lot of time with her cousins and would go on hikes, camping and on other adventures with them. She loved the outdoors also enjoying horse riding and wild swimming. When she wasn’t with her cousins she loved to read adventure novels. | |||

She tried to reject her abilities and refused to explore them further only learning the minimum required to control them. Kaz decided to join Starfleet at 18 following in the family tradition. Her uncle had also served as an enlisted engineer in his early adulthood and she had loved listening to him recount his stories of those days. Kaz was drawn to the idea of adventure and seeing more of what was out there. | |||
