Lane West showed Ian warp care blue prints and models at a very early age, telling him all the parts, the upgrades, what worked how and why.  Before long the two of them would work together in Lanes home office on warp core designs.  Ian at the age of 5 designed a warp core made of pizza.  Lane still has the crayon covered paper framed and in his office.

Ian resented his mother, his friends got play and go do things while he got to sit at home and work.  It was not till much later that Ian found a common ground with his mother.  Ian took a part time teaching job while in college and used the topic to bond with his mother.

 Ian enjoys jogging, swimming, and staying fit. He enjoys racquetball, fencing, and rock climbing, and has become a decent golf player.   Ian also loves playing darts with close friends while drinking a New Castle Classic.
+Ian has a Hunter 38 foot Sailing boat, that he keeps at Star Base 118 in the commercial sector.  He can be found most often on it when he is at Star Base 118, or on it when off duty while stationed there.

 Ian  has long been an avid rock climber. Even as a teenager when he got in to trouble for climbing a forbidden mountain on Mars housing a Starfleet Secret Lab. Over the years he has continued to climb on away missions and for fun. Ian was once taken to an American Football match in the holodeck where he played as a Quarter Back in a club match.
 At the Academy  Ian was known to play racket ball, however, he has not played in recent years due to not having someone to play against. Ian sometimes practices boxing and hand-to-hand combat but only for the workout. More regularly, however, he can be found working out in the gym between 16 hundred and 18 hundred hours every weekday; and can be found Rock Climbing on the holodeck every Saturday morning. When he meets up with his best friend Chris Janson.

+Later the same night Raj came to Ian's quarters and the two talked and had wine.  Raj leaned in and kissed Ian, he began to freak out so Ian kissed him again.  But he had finally passed out due to Wine and Pain Meds.  Ian has a lot of Attraction to Raj but thinks that Raj will never have the same feelings due to the Emerson Ravenscroft factor.  Ian hates Emerson and everything that he stands for.  But told himself that his like of Captain Blueheart was great than his hate, and he would not let his feelings of hatred get in the way of his Friendship with Raj.

This strange old man introduced himself as the Guardian and said that the Tiger was trespassing on land controlled by the Iconians and that if they did not leave he would destroy the planet and everything on it.
