Lauren is the middle sister and a former Warrant Officer aboard the USS Bispham, as a member of the vessels science department. Lauren left the Bispham after less than a year due to unpleasant advances from her department chief, and her captains repeated dismissals of her complaints. After a short time back in Ireland, Lauren now owns and runs a flower shop - "Lily Emerald's" - in the San Francisco District of Starbase 118's commercial sector.

During the hunt for kidnapped station personnel - including Maxwell - Dolan found herself running post as a Tactical officer aboard the station, and then later aboard the USS Eagle under Major Tatash. Upon reaching the mines of Dominicus VI, Dolan then found herself running a makeshift hospital in the cargo bay alongside the ships EMH. With both areas being well outside of her comfort zone, Dolan didn't have time to rest upon returning to 118, instead taking her previously offered post on a scientific expedition to an un-surveyed world.
Unfortunately for Dolan, due to engineering difficulties with the NSP Corax she was only away from the station for around three months, with a total expedition time on site of barely a fortnight.
During one of many crew parties and award events that Erin attended as Maxwell's "Date", she was promoted to full Lieutenant. In a gesture that nearly brought her to tears, Captain Sal Taybrim - having announced her promotion - deferred the actual awarding of her new rank to Maxwell.
