Born during the Occupation, the first decade of Manar's life was filled with misery and oppression. Growing up in an internment camp just outside of Ashalla, she knew little mercy at the hands of the Cardassians. Lucikly, the Rebellion succeeded and Bajor was liberated. Manar and her mother, Anora Neyal, began their lives anew in the Bajoran capital. They took refuge in one of the city's temples, devoting their lives entirely over to the work of the Prophets. Within a few years, Neyal rose through the ranks, becoming a prylar and eventually a ranjen.
