During his studies, he worked on a research project using some data sent to him from his father's laboratory. He discovered a new human gene, S80-3, which is found in people exposed to certain levels of ionising radiation. This gene can interact with fibroblasts and stimulate the growth of collagen. Alessandro is currently working on developing a device to force the S80-3 mutation to allow tissue repair after injury.
