As a child, Kiyel was scrawny, awkward, and slower to physically develop than most of the children his age, but that changed significantly as he reached adolescence. In his teenage years, he took an interest in the athletic competitions of other worlds. Originally wanting to serve in the Trill Diplomatic Corps, he instead chose to enroll in Starfleet Academy in the hopes of becoming a security/tactical officer. Despite being built and physically intimidating, Kiyel is quite friendly and light-hearted.
