The Coningent was made up of Specialists and the best Marines Starfleet Marine Corps had to offer, since being formed on the [[USS Independence-A|USS ''Independence''-A]], the unit has taken part in Operation Brightstar, which saw the Starfleet forces retake Deep Space 17 back from the Vaadwaur.
